iii: Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

We left part ii with Robert F Kennedy (RFK) having gained national recognition as a prominent adversary of Teamsters’ President Jimmy Hoffa and organized crime.
Like a swarm of parasitoid wasps, the National Syndicate of Organized Crime had infiltrated its host the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the largest and most powerful Labor Union in the US. The union had a significant presence in various industries, including trucking, transportation, warehousing, and construction. The corporate industrialists that employed them, seeking to maximize profits and minimize costs, had an interest in undermining the union’s power and influence. Having associates infiltrate key positions was a favoured modus operandi.
Masters of Deceit
RFK faced adversity in attempting to bring down Hoffa, who had behind him skilled lawyers, political connections, the National Crime Syndicate, and most importantly another more powerful secret society – the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The infamous head J Edgar Hoover had been very reluctant to recognize the existence of the National Crime Syndicate and instead attempted to shift focus onto espionage, subversion, and communist infiltration.
There was a reason for this reluctance. The FBI, the domestic intelligence agency and political police of the USA, was itself a mob associate, or rather the mob was a Deep State associate, a proxy army, a parastate.
Now the official narrative holds that the G-Men, the White Knights, are locked in mortal combat with the mobsters, the Black Knights. This is only true of the lower echelons of the police and smaller, independent gangs – disorganized crime.
As one moves up the echelons, there is a symbiotic relationship between intelligence agencies and organized crime syndicates, Black Bishops and their sponsored Black Knights.
Higher up still, you have the Deep State Politicians, the Grey Bishops. The FBI at this level is most certainly a faction of the US Deep State, a secret society that lives up in its entirety to JFK’s “…monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence–on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day.”
Deep States are the ultimate crime syndicates, specializing in the control of national governments and the Corporate-industrial-complex. Intelligence agencies such as the FBI function as security services for these groups rather than the people they are ostensibly put in place to serve,
Hoover himself was a Deep Politician, a Grey Bishop, a political puppet master throughout his unnaturally long career. He was a key ally of Joseph McCarthy and wrote a book in 1958 – Masters Of Deceit: The Story Of Communism In America And How To Fight It.
Supreme irony that words such as these flowed from his pen:
“It is the function of mass agitation to exploit all the grievances, hopes, aspirations, prejudices, fears, and ideals of all the special groups that make up our society, social, religious, economic, racial, political. Stir them up. Set one against the other. Divide and conquer. That’s the way to soften up a democracy.”
It was the Red Scare, the Bolshevik Bugbear, that led to the formation of the proto-FBI, the General Intelligence Division in 1919, two years after the Russian revolution. Its purpose was to collect information on radical organizations. Hoover was appointed head and remained as director as it morphed into the FBI in 1924 where he would stay until his death in 1972. While it still promotes itself as a crime fighting organization of White Hats, Hoover was named for the capture or deaths of Machine Gun Kelly, John Dillinger and Alvin Karpis, it is in fact primarily involved in surveillance and crushing political dissidence.
The Baleful Eye
Nor was this the first agency in the US with such motives, there were many private agencies that arose in the 19th century. No organization exemplifies such a phenomenon more than those “Hired Hessian’s of Plutocracy”, the Pinkerton National Detective Agency. These Deep-State Sponsored Bandits were founded in 1852 to protect the interests of the Robber Barons. Sleuths, spies, agents provocateurs, mercenaries, union busters, thugs and assassins, they were not averse to the most underhanded of methods.
They guarded trains and factories, intimidating workers, putting down all manner of labor disputes with the utmost brutality, simply shooting strikers and protestors. They went further than this however, throwing bombs into crowds, framing and arresting anarchists with no connection to the crime. They fabricated confessions, bribed false witnesses, tampered with juries and testified at the trials that sent these poor individuals to the gallows.
As well as being hired to track down legendary outlaws such as Jesse James, Butch Cassidy, and the Sundance Kid, they worked to undermine unions from the inside out as well as the outside in. The White hats were Black hats in disguise.
Although referred to as “detectives” (the Pinkerton logo inspired the expression “Private Eye”), such operatives were different from the normal view of detectives, they were in fact labour spies.
They employed techniques of surreptitious monitoring, “missionary” work – whispering campaigns, sabotage, provoking chaos or violence, frameups, intimidation, and insinuating themselves into positions of authority from which they could alter the basic goals of an organization.
Just as the caterpillar’s defenses are disabled by the mRNA secreted by the Parasitoid Wasp larvae, preventing it from morphing into a butterfly, so is the union similarly paralyzed:
“The mystery and deadly certainty with which this scheme [espionage] operated was so baffling to the men that they each suspected the others, were afraid to meet or to talk and the union was completely broken.”

Sometimes, if the Pinkertons failed to control a labor union leader, they simply murdered him. For example, in 1917, an organizer of workers in the metal mines – Frank Little, was accosted in his hotel room by six masked men, beaten, tied by a rope to a car, dragged out of town and lynched. “First and last warning” was written on a note pinned to his chest…
In the 1930s nearly one-third of the twelve-hundred labour spies working for the Pinkerton Agency held key positions in the targeted unions. They were one of the largest and most infamous amongst 230 such agencies with branch offices across America, often under disguised names.
In short, the Pinkertons performed the same function as the Mob in infiltrating and taking over unions.
In 1935 they shifted from overt strikebreaking to operating solely undercover, and this activity was gradually superseded by the rise of the FBI. The work of spying on the labor movement had been taken over by the State, just as the State had been taken over by the Deep State.
The state still outsources its work however, the Pinkertons, now a subsidiary of security company Securitas AB, work for Robber Barons such as Jeff Bezos, turning their baleful eye upon workers in Amazon’s European warehouses and infiltrating its worksites.
Disruption and Discord
The FBI’s Counter-Intelligence Program (COINTELPRO) carried on the tradition of the detective agencies, its intent was to “Foster factionalism”, “create suspicion within groups” and create “disruption and discord”. Those targeted were all leftist groups – primarily the Communist Party USA, the Socialist Workers Party (SWP) and the New Left, the Civil Rights Movement, the protests against the Vietnam War, the Puerto Rican independence movement, black liberation groups such as the Black Panthers, the American Indian Movement and the alternative media.
The FBI and the US Corporate-controlled media painted these movements as being manipulated, infiltrated, and run from Russian intelligence services abroad. Just like today…
The insidious methods employed included infiltration of informants and agents provocateurs, the main purpose going beyond spying to discrediting and disrupting.
As well as this covert warfare from the inside, psychological warfare was also carried out from the outside. This included wiretaps, break-ins, financial harassment, blackmail, getting people fired, perjury, doctoring evidence, frame-ups, trumped-up charges, black propaganda (to discredit targets) – planting false media stories, bogus leaflets, forged correspondence, anonymous letters, spreading disinformation and setting up pseudo-groups run by government agents.
The next level was intimidation, provocations, death threats, violence and actual assassinations. This was carried out either directly by the FBI and local police, or by proxy groups including organized crime syndicates, private agencies, and hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan.
Perhaps the reader can now begin to see why Hoover wrote his book and was reluctant to even acknowledge the existence of the Mob, which the FBI often outsourced its work to.
It was only at RFK’s insistence that the Rackets Committee went ahead. However, the machine behind him had ulterior motives. They found the campaign to be a useful way to weaken the union. Indeed, this is how Hoffa himself portrayed it to the public, pretending to be the champion of the working man. The motive of these figures shifted overtime to damage control as the persistence of the Kennedy brothers uncovered the workings of the National Crime Syndicate, or at least those aspects they were allowed to see. Such damage control consisted of diverting resources toward pursuing local Mafiosi who were too independent for the National Syndicate’s liking. A war against disorganized crime rather than organized crime. They also shifted attention towards “Cosa Nostra” – the Italian component of the mob and away from “Kosher Nostra” – the more powerful Jewish component.
In 1959 the Rackets Committee brought forward Sam Giancana the No 2 boss of the Chicago Mob to Tony Accardo who had been brought in previously. He was interrogated on illegal gambling, prostitution racketeering and four unsolved murders.
Ironic that it was to Giancana that Joseph Kennedy was rumored to have owed a debt to in calling off a contract on himself.
By this time RFK was growing weary of pursuing the mobsters and their associates. After his brother Senator Jack Kennedy reintroduced the hoped-for labor reform legislation and ensured it was pushed through in a compromise with a competing bill, ensuring fair, secret ballot elections within American unions, RFK announced his resignation from the Rackets Committee on September 10,1959. When he left, over 400 agents in the FBI’s New York Field Office were assigned to “communism” and only four to organized crime.
In January of the same year, the Cuban revolution had finally concluded, and Fidel Castro had won his bid for power over the right-wing dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. He proceeded to enlist the help of the Soviets, nationalize all Cuban business and closed the casinos owned by the National Crime Syndicate. Corporations such as Coca-Cola had made vast profits using cheap Cuban sugar grown by poor Cuban farmers. Now they had to pay for sugar at the normal market rate. The mob lost millions every day to the loss of the income from gambling and the high life due to the confiscated Cuban hotel complexes. Intolerable!
It was only after RFK had helped his brother become president in November of 1960, narrowly defeating the Republican Vice President Richard Nixon, that he would reluctantly be appointed attorney general and revive his war on organized crime.
Now the popular rumour holds that JFK was only elected due to the actions of the Chicago mob, Sam Giancana having made a deal with Joe Kennedy. The logic goes that the mob wanted the Kennedys to “lay off” with the investigations and to ensure that Castro was removed from power so that the mob casinos and hotels in Cuba could be restored to their unrightful owners. A major source of these rumours is the book “Double Cross” written by the brother of Sam Giancana, in which he boasted “we own the White House”. However, the claims that the Chicago mob (the Outfit) was responsible for JFK’s election, do not hold up to scrutiny. First of all, the Outfit was only a component, and not the main component, of the National Crime Syndicate. Secondly, the Outfit did not have the capacity to influence votes for JFK in Chicago in any significant fashion. It only controlled the political machinery of the Democratic party in 5 of the 50 Chicago wards and did not have the manpower to intimidate voters in more districts than these. Even in those districts there was no significant influence during the elections, indicating the Outfit was not happy with the Kennedys and their war on crime. Thirdly, the claims that the unions, including the most powerful – the Teamsters, nationally voted democratic also do not hold water, as its boss Jimmy Hoffa hated the Kennedys, and both endorsed and contributed funds to Nixon.
The claims made by Giancana in “Double Cross” about the levels of power and influence held by Cosa Nostra do not hold water. The control of politicians, governors and senior judges required a more powerful secret society than the Outfit alone. This was especially true of the alleged hold over FBI Director and Deep Politician – J. Edgar Hoover, who was himself the master of blackmail.
However, if those claims were made about the Anglo-American Deep State, of which the National Crime Syndicate was a subordinate component, itself consisting of more than Cosa Nostra, then they match perfectly. The Democratic party itself is one wing, the other wing being the Republican party, of the same US Deep State bird. The FBI is also a component. The narrative presented here shows how willing the Anglo-American Deep State is to use “cut-outs” – lower-level echelons of itself, to take the “rap” for its shadowy activities.
The real nature of the “Double Cross” will be explored later, suffice to say for now that it appears that the Kennedy brothers were everything that their father wasn’t, making a commitment to reject the world of national and global crime.
At Midnight all the Agents
On January 17th, 1961, Dwight Eisenhower delivered his final address where he warned the nation (and JFK) about the
“…conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry…”
And exhorted the public to
“…guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military–industrial complex.”
This is a simple formula that denotes a network of connections between the military and industry. At the time the leading players included Lockheed, Boeing, North American Aviation, Douglas Aircraft, General Dynamics and Grumman Aircraft Engineering.
Today the leading members of the Military-industrial complex include arms manufacturers:
Expanding one’s gaze will reveal that these are subsets, though profoundly significant ones, of an entity that can be termed the “Corporate-industrial complex.” This broader perspective acknowledges that the influence of corporations extends far beyond just the defense industry, encompassing sectors such as finance, technology, healthcare, and energy.
Of particular significance is the Energy-industrial component led at the time by the “Seven Sisters” oil cartel – Exxon (Standard Oil of New Jersey), Royal Dutch Shell, BP (British Petroleum), Gulf Oil Corporation,Texaco, Standard Oil of California, and Socony (Standard Oil Company of New York). The “Seven Sisters” cartel was set up in a secret meeting at Achnacarry Castle in Scotland in 1928.
Today the seven sisters have consolidated into what Dean Henderson refers to as the “Four Horsemen”:
They still exert a sinister control over even the most powerful governments and are some of the major players in the corporate-industrial complex, owned by the Grey Bishops.
Eisenhower’s original script featured the “Military-industrial-congressional complex” to also show the connection with politicians but was edited out just before it was given. The power this entity wielded had been demonstrated under Eisenhower’s watch, soon after he was appointed in 1952. His predecessor Harry S. Truman had unsuccessfully attempted to break up the oil cartel. Exxon’s law firm – Sullivan and Cromwell, the most powerful on Wall Street, simply refused a government order to hand over relevant documents. One of two lawyers at the firm – Allen Dulles, a distant cousin to the Rockefellers as well as second in command of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during World War II, would be numbered among the most influential Deep Politicians of the 20th century.
Grey Bishop, Knight of Malta, Wall Street lawyer, spymaster extraordinaire, and minister of ungentlemanly warfare, Dulles was instrumental in the establishment of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the brother agency to the FBI, and powerful faction of the US Deep State. Along with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the National Security Agency (NSA), these four public intelligence agencies make up the US Intelligence-military-industrial complex, the Grey Bishops’ means of governmental control, and covert imperialism.
Interestingly, the same year that the CIA was established, 1947, the beginning of the Cold War, saw the creation of the Doomsday Clock by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, several of whom had worked on the Manhattan Project. The clock was to serve as a metaphorical measure of humankinds’ proximity to global apocalypse (midnight). Originally set at 7 minutes to midnight, it has ranged from 17 minutes to 90 seconds where it resides today in 2024.
In 1953, Dulles collaborated with the head of the UK Secret Intelligence Service (SIS or MI6) – Sir John Sinclair, to join Britain in its plan to overthrow the democratically elected Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh.
Earlier in 1951, Mosaddegh had led the first revolt against the Anglo-Persian Company (APOC), later to be named British Petroleum (BP). It was triggered by its refusal to meet demands for fairer wages. Workers went on strike and protestors took to the streets. Mossadegh announced the solution – nationalize the oil. The pressurized Shah of Persia (as Iran was then called) was forced to appoint him prime minister. As prime minister he managed to break the grip of the large landowners, wealthy merchants, the army, and the civil service. His government was democratic, popular and anti-communist, despite British propaganda to the contrary.
This was of course anathema to the UK Deep State and its State within a State, APOC, one of the “Seven Sisters” oil cartel.
The Grey Bishops of the UK Deep State exhibited murderous jealousy when it came to their oil reserves and the wealth and power that they provided. A year before in 1950, the French geologist Konrad Killian, the “speaker to the stones”, who had discovered great sources of oil in the Sahara and Libya, met a mysterious death. His body was found hanging from a window on the inside of a seedy hotel room having tried to convince his government of the authenticity of his finds. Only the British Secret Service had taken an interest which may explain the curious verdict of suicide despite evidence of numerous blows to the body and the fact that the window latch was 120cm off the ground whilst he was 185cm tall…
Now they set their malign intent upon Mossadegh and the democracy he represented. First the oil cartel worked to boycott Iranian oil exports and drastically reduce production. The British Navy blockaded the ports and seized Iranian oil tankers, the Seven Sisters controlling the other 99%. It was then decided by the UK Deep State to enlist the aid of the US Deep State. UK prime minister Winston Churchill appealed to President Truman to have the CIA assist in the overthrow of Mossadegh. He was refused.
“For some time, I have been disturbed by the way the CIA has been diverted from its original assignment. It has become an operational and at times a policy-making arm of the government…. I never had any thought that when I set up the CIA that it would be injected into peacetime cloak and dagger operations.”

Shortly after the meeting with MI6 in 1953, Dulles was promoted from Deputy Director to Director of the CIA and his brother – John Foster Dulles, also a lawyer at the same firm, was appointed Secretary of State.
Despite Eisenhower’s initial reluctance, the go ahead for Operation Ajax was granted later that year. The US role in the operation to take down Mossadegh was headed by CIA agent, Kermit Roosevelt, working closely with CIA agent Miles Copeland.
In addition to the CIA, the private intelligence contractor Booz Allen Hamilton also played a key role. Public intelligence agencies are tightly interlocked with and often outsource to private intelligence agencies.
In the US today these are dominated by:
Up to 70% of the government intelligence budget is allocated to these agencies staffed via the revolving door between public intelligence agencies, private intelligence agencies, security contractors, and financial and industrial corporations.
The UK public intelligence agencies – MI5 and MI6 outsource to contractors such as:
London, as the major offshore node, is rife with such private agencies from all over the world.
As well as information gathering (spying), and counter-intelligence, these agencies, public and private also carry out other covert operations. Such statecraft and tradecraft includes subversion, propaganda and mind control, political and economic manipulation, blackmail, bribery, assassination, drug trafficking, arms-dealing, money laundering, cyber-terrorism, actual terrorism, paramilitary operations, bolstering oppressive but allied regimes, and of course regime change – exemplified by “Operation Ajax”.
Black operations or covert actions are the attempts by governments or deep state groups to influence events without revealing their own involvement. Their operatives are the black knights dwelling on the edge of civilized society, masking their identities and that of their liege lords by forgoing heraldry. The sinister image is also one cultivated intentionally as a means to intimidate enemies and to keep a terrified populace in check.
For the US Deep State, the Special Activities Division (SAD) of the CIA carries out the darkest and most secretive of these operations.

Black ops groups also recruit from and collude with crime syndicates in symbiotic fashion, their activities and interests overlapping considerably. Mob boss Sam Giancana reportedly said that the CIA and the Cosa Nostra were “different sides of the same coin“. As we have seen, transnational organized crime syndicates, also run by hierarchies of sociopaths and psychopaths, operate in the same fashion. The official narrative we are fed tells us that these are the enemies of police and law enforcement agencies. While this may be true of smaller, more independent gangs, for the larger syndicates there tends to be a symbiotic relationship between them, governments and the Deep State groups that control them all.
These are the agents and soldiers both public and private, of the conspiratorial field that can be termed the Intelligence-military-industrial complex. The men in black tropes are based on the real Black Knights, the “muscle” in service to the Grey Bishops of the US Deep State, and other Deep States – the “guerrillas by night”.
Let us now return to 1953 when the groundwork had already been laid by the British MI6, who named their end “Operation Boot” as in Orwell’s boot. Senior officers in the Persian military and police, politicians, civil servants, mullahs, businessmen, newspaper editors and mob leaders had all been paid off and loyalty ensured. Both British and US agents arranged the kidnapping of key officials and politicians who did not play along. The chief of police was tortured and murdered. A prominent cleric’s house was bombed.
The signal for the coup was the BBC Persian language broadcast:
“…it is now exactly midnight…”
The Shah fled and the CIA and MI6-engineered protests took to the streets. The mercenary rioters were portrayed as communist supporters of the Tudeh party to provide a pretext for the Shah’s stepping in. The real threat of nationalism impinging on oil profits was removed from the narrative presented to the public.
The provincial armies under control of the CIA, moved in on Tehran. Guns, trucks, armoured cars, and radios – all courtesy of the US arms manufacturers and dealers. Mossadegh and his ministers were arrested after his forces were defeated in the bloody coup. Five thousand opponents – democrat leaders, nationalists and communists were all shot. Mossadegh was jailed for three years and then placed under house arrest for the rest of his days. A US-supported dictatorship run by Nazi-collaborator – General Fazlollah Zahedi with the Shah as puppet, then held sway for twenty-five years, subjecting the populace to one of history’s most brutal secret police – the Savak, created by Zahedi, the CIA, MI6 and Mossad. BP was forced to share 40% of the plunder with the American majors. Again, democracy had been overthrown by the kleptocratic oligarchy.

The Secret of the Seven Sisters
As CIA agent Kermit’s grandfather had publicly proclaimed:
“Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people. To destroy this invisible government, to befoul the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of the day.”

Ironically Eisenhower, in his first public address in 1953 – the “Cross of Iron” speech, had lamented the influence of the war profiteers, just before giving Operation Ajax the nod:
“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.”
US “defense” contractors profited handsomely from the 1953 coup. During this period, US military “aid” to the Middle East, mostly Israel, Saudi Arabia and Iran went from 3% of the world to 60%. This military presence (protection racket) was and is as much to “encourage” loyalty from installed puppets and to protect them and their oil infrastructure from their own desperate peoples as it is to defend them against hostile nations.
Eisenhower did however make a stance against the machinations of the Deep State during the Suez Crisis in 1956. Israel, aided by Britain and France, attempted to conquer the Gaza Strip and the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula, seize the Suez Canal and overthrow Egypt’s President Nasser. He ordered Israel to withdraw from Egypt backed up by boycotts, divestment, and sanctions. This action was opposed by Senator Lyndon Johnson but supported by Senator Jack F. Kennedy.
The United Nations and most of the world applauded his stance and this experience most certainly influenced his final address in 1961. His legacy to JFK was his role in turning back the Doomsday Clock and holding off Midnight. His warning to JFK was the rise of the Military-industrial complex and its interlocking role with other components to form a giant syndicate that still holds and exerts ever more misplaced power and unwarranted influence.
