Robert Malone’s interview in January 2022 with Joe Rogan, in which he brought up the phenomenon of mass formation, was the epicentre of a societal quake. This quake was in fact the major seismic event of a societal quake swarm of lesser events that had occurred after a number of talks given by Belgian academic Professor Mattias Desmet of the psychology faculty at Ghent University in the previous year.
Mass formation psychosis is the psychology of the mob or crowd – how individual behaviour is influenced by the group in the manifestation of collective hysteria.
We touched upon this phenomenon in April of 2021 – part 5 with the introduction to the Morphic resonance theory of Rupert Sheldrake. This posits that organisms are shaped by fields both within and around them, fields which shape both form and behaviour.
We particularly focused on the social aspect of morphic fields that applies to the phenomena of super-organisms. Just as a hive of bees is considered a super-organism with the bees as analogues to the cells, so Sheldrake suggests that this phenomenon is also at work in human groups, particularly in the behaviour of crowds and rapidly spreading social phenomena such as fashions, fads, crazes, rumours, and jokes.
This collective consciousness, a force that combines individual people into a group, is as mysterious as that which unites separate cells into a functional whole. The metaphor of human society as a superorganism exists in our language in phrases such as the body politic, head of state and arm of the law.
Sheldrake suggests we should think of whole societies and social groups as being coordinated by morphic fields, with the groups themselves coming together and dissolving as teams, pop groups and crowds do. Societal fields are more enduring and we dwell within these fields all the time: family fields, or national fields, or local fields, the fields of various groups to which we belong.
Anthropologists and sociologists throughout history have referred to this indefinable “something”, this “conscience collective” in Emile Durkheim’s terminology, that maintains the cohesion of the social group. Many of the activities of this group consciousness are concerned with maintaining and stabilizing the continued existence of the group field itself. This helps to explain the manifestation of traditions, rituals, customs, and manners which are perpetuated to maintain pattern, structure and organization in a group field despite the continuous turnover of individuals through the cycles of life and death.
So far there is nothing unwholesome about this idea that we are all connected on a fundamental level. Nor need it negate cherished notions of individuality.
Think of a high-level sports team where, after practice, everybody fits in and knows where their teammates are, where the team fuses into a single organism, yet each player retains their individuality and unique style of play. Or a jazz band, each member improvising from moment to moment, spontaneously and freely and yet keeping in tune and in step (not lockstep) with the whole.
This state is referred to as “quantum coherence” by Mae Wan Ho who describes organisms and super-organisms as “self-organizing quantum coherent systems.”
In the individual, quantum coherence underlies the unified experience of the self.
In the social group it manifests as a unified social identity that simultaneously nurtures the individuality of its members.
But like all things in nature, things can go wrong. Group formation can become mass formation and this can manifest as a form of mass psychosis.
Leviathon
The definition of psychosis:
“A severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with reality.”
Thus, mass formation psychosis occurs when the collective thoughts and emotions of a group of people are so impaired that contact is lost with reality on a massive scale. The group field is exhibiting chaotic resonance, the system of the superorganism is losing its true coherence and replacing it with a false coherence, apparently strong but with fatal flaws.
The theory of mass formation psychosis particularly draws on the works of 19th century writer Gustave Le Bon who suggested that the masses pass through three stages in the process of mass hypnosis.
1 Submergence – the loss of individual identity, conscience, empathy, and other points on the moral compass
2 Contagion – the emotions and ideas of the mass are transferred to the individual
3 Suggestion – Feelings, decisions and actions of the individual are overwhelmingly influenced by the mass
Writing in the 20th century, Elias Canetti viewed the crowd as a monstrous and destructive creature with a life of its own. He wrote that genuine crowds, as opposed to random groups of people coinciding in time and space, developed around a focal point he called a crowd crystal. This crystal grows like a nebulous entity, feeding on people, absorbing their separate identities, names, economic and social status until they merge into a new being. Concerted action moves across this superorganism like the waves of nervous discharge in a jellyfish. This creature exists for as long as its invisible goal is unattained. It may be a short-term goal such as a lynch-mob killing or the destruction of several buildings, or it may be a long-term vision like the crusaders taking Jerusalem.
Police refer to this as the mob rule, there is a difference between a group of people protesting and a mob. There’s a dividing line, once you cross that line, that mob is a whole different beast.
Such imagery evokes the Hobbesian vision of the great biblical monster – Leviathan, which Thomas Hobbes, writing in the 17th century, used as an analogy for society, with the sovereign as the head. Hobbes depicted the natural condition of mankind “the state of nature” as inherently violent and permeated with fear. In his view, the only thing that holds the Leviathan together and prevents it devolving into constant warfare of “everyman against everyman” is the social contract, enforced by the sovereign power and its attendant ruling class.
Professor Mattias Desmet, in his elucidation of Mass Formation Psychosis, outlines the four conditions necessary for the devolution of a society into this monstrous creature.
The mass of people feels isolated from human contact either literally or figuratively or both.
The mass experiences psychological disconnection from reality.
The mass is subjected to a great deal of stress, confusion and free-floating anxiety, usually due to a perceived threat
The mass generates, as a response to this fear and confusion, free-floating frustration and aggression.
According to Desmet all four of these conditions are being met. A significant proportion of the masses are in a disrupted psychological state conducive to this mass hypnosis.
When these four conditions have been fulfilled, something very specific can happen. If a narrative is distributed through the mass media, which both indicates the object of anxiety and provides a strategy for dealing with it, then the mass is overly willing to direct its psychological energy towards engaging with both the object and the strategy. A new form of social bond is forged.
This following of the narrative can happen even if the narrative itself is logically absurd. In fact, the more absurd the narrative is, the more fanatic the following. Professor Desmet holds that the reason why people follow a narrative has nothing to do with the fact that it is correct or accurate or scientific but because it leads to the new social bond. For those enslaved by this new bond, anything outside of its narrow narrative band of focus holds no concern whatsoever.
Any information or data that contradicts that narrative falls on deaf ears. This pathological reaction to the previous state of social isolation means that any suggestion of returning to the “old normal” – the pre-mass formation state, is met with intense hostility.
Rational arguments are of little use to those held in its grip, even if the individuals lose everything that is important to them personally including their very sense of individuality.
Fortunately, when a process of mass formation psychosis emerges in a society only 30% of the population is really hypnotized.
It may seem there are much more but this is not the case. This is because 40% of the population who go along with this first group are simply going along with the current, not because they wish to but because they feel that it is too difficult and too dangerous to go against it.
Most important of all, the remaining 30% are not hypnotized, are resisting the narrative, and speaking out.
This rule seems to hold throughout history even in totalitarian States such as Germany or the Soviet Union.
This offers hope that the remaining 30% resisting the narrative can organize themselves, not as a hypnotized mass but as a unified group of individuals and influence the 40% of the population that are not truly hypnotized and so remain open to reason.
Mask Formation Psychosis
In early 2020, Professor Desmet, who also holds a Masters in Statistics, had the impression that most statistical models were vastly overestimating the severity of the virus. The focus of the majority was on the perceived threat posed by the coronavirus, and on little else.
In the cold light of day, it can be seen that the virus posed very little threat, no more than the flu which, according to the World Health Organisation, can kill up to 650,000 people globally in a single six-month flu season.
Desmet was struck by the fact that the authorities, all the while claiming reliance on mathematical modelling and science, continued applying the measures despite their initial models being proven completely wrong. Nor was the inevitable collateral damage caused by the measures taken into account. Conservative estimates were showing that the lockdowns themselves would kill at least 100 times as many people as covid-19, yet these estimates were brushed aside by authorities and media outlets.
Revelations on the fraudulent nature of the PCR tests with a false positive rate of up to 97%, the misdiagnosis of the majority of covid cases, ignoring the real causes of death – heart attacks, strokes, etc even influenza disappearing, were ignored or denied.
The insane and cruel treatment of the elderly and vulnerable by health care systems around the world, effectively abandoning many of them in their final hours.
Experienced medical experts, some of them the top in their field, who countered the narrative and/or offered more effective alternative treatments were ghosted or vilified and expunged from the air waves and cyberspace.
It took Desmet until around August of 2020 to recognize that this was a large-scale phenomenon of mass formation, a subject he had been lecturing on for four years previously.
Surely, the phenomenon of mass mandatory mask-wearing would have hammered this realization home. Nothing suggests mass formation psychosis like a legion of lurching mask zombies.
It was recognised and admitted by the authorities at the beginning of the pseudo-pandemic that masks do nothing to prevent spread of viruses. In fact, they become facial petri-dishes for pneumococcal bacteria, and induce prolonged hypoxia, lowering immune system efficiency. Yet in the summer, after infection rates had plummeted, masks suddenly became compulsory in indoor public settings, and outside in some regions. Then school children were required to wear them all day in the classroom.
Another kind of logic was behind the mask impositions.
If a narrative is distributed through the mass media, indicating the object of anxiety – the invisible coronavirus, and providing a strategy for dealing with it – mask-wearing, then the mass is overly willing to direct its psychological energy towards complying with the strategy. A new form of social bond is forged.
Masks have been used throughout history in ritual to ward away evil spirits. Sometimes the masks are worn to transform the identity to that of the being represented by the mask. Other times the masks themselves represent the diseases that cause the sickness.
People were tricked and coerced on mass to wear masks that they were led to believe would ward away an evil spirit. In fact, they were having their identity assimilated into a mask-formation psychosis in an imposed ritual of compliance intended to wear away at empathy and autonomy.
Those refusing to lose their identity and wear the mask of compliance, representing the “old-normal” were treated with intense hostility.
And then came the gene-editing drugs, themselves guised as vaccines and presented as the golden tickets to life and freedom.
In a remotely sane world, it takes 5-10 years to develop a vaccine. To roll out this experiment on care home residents, the elderly and vulnerable at warp speed was pure madness. They swapped the sacrificial test animals for the elderly.
Within a week or more of the rollout, mysterious waves of deaths ostensibly attributed to Covid washed over the vaccinated world.
Despite this, the subtle and not so subtle coercion to take these vaccines was incessant and incremental, moving down the age groups until they arrived at children.
The hypnotized masses offering up their children along with the mass denial, as more and more of the vulnerable succumb to myocarditis and other life-threatening conditions linked to the experimental vaccines with ever increasing certainty, is the epitome of mass formation psychosis.
The population of those refusing the vaccines and/or boosters, around 10% and growing, became the “anti-vaxxers”, the new scapegoat for the pseudo-pandemic.
Mass Media Formation Psychosis
Professor Desmet states that sometimes a mass formation psychosis arises spontaneously and sometimes it is provoked artificially.
It is clear that this largest ever mass formation psychosis in world history would not have been possible without the corporate media and social media conglomerates.
Hypnotic three-word slogans and phrases were pumped out verbatim in lock step by media outlets across the world. Dissenting voices were slandered and censored. Populations under extreme duress, disorientation and isolation were incessantly flooded over prolonged periods with fear-based imagery and a false narrative based on distorted statistics.
These pernicious ideas and behavioural patterns that propagate themselves through the socio-cultural sphere in a similar fashion to contagious viruses have been termed memes – behavioural analogies to genes and mRNA particles. A meme is much than a picture or phrase that lots of people share across social media, it is the very basis of information transfer in a society. A more accurate term would be morphic memes, as they behave as morphic fields in their own right, shaping thought, perception and behaviour.
Group Formation Psychopathy
These corporate media networks themselves can be seen as a single group entity, more than the sum of the smaller groups and individuals that it is composed of. This entity interlocks with other corporations and institutions both overt and covert – banks, governments, intelligence agencies, non-governmental organizations, tax-exempt foundations and think tanks. Together they form a super-entity that we can refer to as the Supra-national Deep State.
The leaders, those occupying key positions of authority in the upper echelons of these organizations know perfectly well what they are doing but they believe in their own lies. It is increasingly clear that they have ulterior motives and covert agendas that go beyond the official narrative they present to the masses. A more subtle, more insidious form of mass formation psychosis at work in this entity. A more accurate term would be Group Formation Psychopathy. These kind of criminals are not a disorganised mob, they don’t disobey the rules, they make the rules, despotic and unethical as they are. Psychosis is a temporary state, psychopathy is a personality trait.
Recall that when a process of mass formation psychosis emerges in a society only 30% of the population is really hypnotized. This dovetails to a certain extent with the findings outlined previously in parts 5,6,7,8 & 9.
At the extreme end of those 30% hypnotized, we will find the 10% of humanity that are sociopaths and at the extreme end of the extreme end, the 1% that are psychopaths. The key feature of sociopathy is a lack of empathy and the key feature of psychopathy is the absence of empathy.
Unfortunately, our society on a global level is currently configured so that those groups of people in key positions of power and authority have an inordinately high concentration of sociopaths and psychopaths.
These individuals have little or no empathy and a complete disregard for others which enables them to pathologically lie without batting an eyelid. They are also able to lie to themselves to the extent that they believe their own lies. They have a delusional sense of superiority, that they are above the law, or any kind of explanation and so feel justified no matter what atrocity they commit.
To carry out their insidious psychopathic agendas, they have one of the most powerful tools in human history.
Propaganda
Thousands of years old, the deceitful use of information to manipulate masses underwent a revolution from the First World War onwards when it was mass-produced on a global scale.
Gustave Le Bon, the father of crowd psychology, was a profound influence, not only on Hitler, Mussolini and Lenin, but on the father of propaganda – Louis Bernays.
Bernays, a nephew of Sigmund Freud, nested a fear and hatred of society, particularly the herd-instinct which he regarded as irrational and dangerous. He extolled the “invisible government” that held society – Leviathon, in check.
“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organised habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds are moulded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of.”
The mechanism for the subtle manipulation of the morphic field of mankind by means of morphic memes, though ancient, was laid out quite blatantly in his 1928 book – “Propaganda.” It is quite clear from his writing that this “invisible government” was already nested within human society, though it should be clear that it would have no place in a real democratic society.
This powerful system of propaganda triggered the collective psychosis, allowing governments to impose unprecedented levels of totalitarian rule over their populations.
War Formation Psychosis
As we have seen in parts 8 and 9, mind control is about breaking the identity of an individual and replacing it with a superficial identity. This superficial identity can itself be dispensed with and replaced with another.
This is now abundantly clear as the western anti-Russian hysteria and virtue-signalling on Ukraine seems to have displaced the covid hysteria. It matters not what the object of anxiety is or whether it is real, what matters is that the psychic energy of the masses is directed towards the presented strategy for dealing with it, which just so happens to align with the covert agendas of those that present the narrative and strategy. The social bond of mass insanity is maintained.
Throughout the 20th century, a deceitful network of propaganda pitted the peoples of one side against the other by means of mutual enemy images both within and between the opposing societies. The intent as always was to engender discord, distrust, and division in order to rule more effectively.
After the Second World War, when Hitler, the ultimate enemy image had been defeated, networks of “stay-behind” parasitoids were left in place throughout Europe. This was ostensibly to organize resistance in countries potentially overrun by a Soviet invasion. In reality, Operation Gladio was about promoting fear of communism by carrying out false flag attacks in the strategy of tension. Its lowest level operatives, the sleepers, are speculated to have been victims of mind control.
Interestingly, the Axis powers had their own units operating in a similar fashion. The Nazis named their secret guerrilla organization Werwolf. Indeed, Hitler’s own Sturmabteilung, literally Storm Detachment, also known as the Brown Shirts, was a secret paramilitary guerrilla organization that went public and supported his rise to power. Much suppressed is the fact that the financing for these street thugs came from US industrial oligarchs and corporations such as Henry Ford, I.G Farben, General Electric and Standard Oil (now Exxon) up to 1944. After these surviving secret Axis units had been tracked down and defeated, some of them were recruited into the new anti-Soviet stay-behind networks.
In the Ukraine in 1941, Stepan Bandera – leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, worked with Nazi death squads to commit numerous atrocities against Jews, Poles and Russians.
In 2010 he was declared to be a “Hero of Ukraine” by the president at that time – Viktor Yushchenko.
As outlined by Iain Davis in his article:
Ukraine War! What Is It Good For? The Historical Background (Part 1)
“CIA documents released in 2007 reveal that after the war Bandera worked with British intelligence, running agents inside the UkrSSR. The relationship between the Western powers and the Ukrainian far right has continued ever since.”
The majority of Ukrainians or their government are not fascists, but the 10% who are, have a disproportionate influence, particularly in politics and the military and especially with backing from the CIA and MI6.
First the reports of Nazi battalions during the Ukrainian invasion were denied in the western media, then it was admitted that there were some Nazis. Then it was admitted that there were a lot of Nazis but that they were the “right” kind of Nazis as they were fighting on behalf of western powers and “democracy.”
The incongruence of leftist leaning demagogues supporting Nazis in one of the powder kegs of the world because they are fighting the object of anxiety – the enemy image of the Russians, is a key trait of mass formation psychosis.
At the time of this writing, the British Government is negotiating with the governments of Saudia Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to secure energy deals as a direct result of the sanctions placed on Russia and to coordinate economic pressure on Vladimir Putin. Not one word from the sociopathic Johnson, nor the mass formation media about the 200,000 Yemenis killed by these two governments over the last few years in a war that is still ongoing. Men, women and children murdered by UAE and Saudia Arabia and British and western munitions – the Military Industrial Complex. Rank hypocrisy, another key trait of mass formation psychosis and group formation psychopathology.
Events are unfolding rapidly at present but it is becoming clear that this war is primarily one of disinformation serving a narrative operating on a higher octave than the one most people are aware of.
One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you, don’t do anything at all
Go ask Alice, when she’s ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits, and you know you’re going to fall
Tell ’em a hookah smoking caterpillar has given you the call
Call Alice, when she was just small
When the men on the chessboard get up and tell you where to go
And you’ve just had some kind of mushroom and your mind is moving low
